John Edward Doyle Jr. is a Storyteller, Actor and Teaching Artist. He is originally from Burnsville, Minnesota. John moved to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College and after college John chose to start his professional career in Atlanta. John’s passion is in the arts and education and he has the great opportunity to blend those two in his career. After receiving theater training from Carol Mitchell Leon at Clark-Atlanta University, in 1997, John began working as a professional teaching artist, actor and storyteller in Atlanta.
John began his teaching career and working with youth in 1998 where he served as a lead teacher in the three year old classroom at Atlanta's Inn for Children. Yes, John began his teaching career working at a daycare! It was there that he learned the foundation of what it took to work with youth- having a passion, compassion and patience for our youth.
Then in 2000, John was introduced to the world of being a teaching artist at the Alliance Theatre. It was there that John began getting valuable experience as well as training. Some of the training John has received as a teaching artist include:

- Certified Anger Management teacher
- Dime Train the Trainer certification
- Juvenile justice curriculum training
- Parent advocate training
- Inclusion strategies for children who have autism and Asperger syndrome
- Understanding By Design curriculum strategy
- Common Core Alignment Lesson training
- Parent liaison training
- TKES inclusion training
- Developing Assessment and Rubrics
- Digital Storytelling
- Assessment of curriculum design
- Readers Theatre
- Process Drama
- Lead Teaching Artist instructor for Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre middle school program
John has worked with such organizations as: Kaiser Permanente Educational Theater Programs, Alliance Theatre, Georgia Ensemble Theatre, Upward Bound, Boys and Girls club, Young Audience, Atlanta Street Theatre, Camp Broadway, Fox Theater and many schools across the state. John has had residencies in over 30 school districts in Georgia!
John not only works with students but he also loves working with teachers and helping them expand their teaching tool box. He has given workshops for educators on how to use digital storytelling in their classroom and a workshop on activities and games to use to connect with students.
He has been an actor-educator at Kaiser Permanente Education Theatre Programs. He became a core company member that toured that state of Georgia doing children and adult theater. While at Kaiser, John also created their Male Empowerment Workshop geared towards middle school to high school boys.
John currently has 9 educational performance shows that tour the state.
John is an accomplished storyteller as well. Telling, everywhere, from birthday parties, schools, festivals and conferences. John also conducts workshops on how to incorporate storytelling and digital storytelling in the classroom. He is the past resident storyteller at the High Museum of Art.
