Henry McNeil Turner and Reconstruction Era in Atlanta
During the reconstruction era, Henry McNeil Turner was a very active member in the Georgia government. But, it was not to last long. Henry McNeil Turner experienced the power of racism. He did not let that stop him from achieving greatness in other areas of his life. He soon became a prominent figure in not only Georgia history but in American history. This play shares some insight into what was going on during the reconstruction era.

In 1906 Atlanta experienced one of the most brutal race riots. This play follows a man who tells the story of not only being in the race riots but surviving it. This play shows what led up to the race riots, the race riot itself and the aftermath of the race riots.

Booker T. Washington- A Leader in Challenging Times
This is the story of how Booker T. Washington, who was born into slavery, became a leader, an educator and a great speaker. The audience sees what led to the Atlanta Compromise speech and the backlash he experienced because of it including the infamous debate between he and W.E.B Dubois. He was a man both idolized and criticized and the audience will see why.

Alonzo Herndon- Atlanta’s First Black Millionaire
Alonzo Herndon was the first Black Atlanta millionaire. But how did he achieve such success and what kind of character traits did he possess as a business leader and philanthropist. Alonzo Herndon is seen through the eyes of his longtime assistant in his first barbershop. We see how Alonzo dealt with the Atlanta Race riots and persevered to be a leader in the Atlanta community.

Founding of SNCC- Radical youth leaders
SNCC was an important civil rights organization that fought for change. It was an organization that was started and ran by young students. This story shows how youth can make a difference when they organize themselves towards a common cause. In this program we see the formation of SNCC through the eyes of one of its founders. We see the reason they banded together and the obstacles they faced being a SNCC member.

Growing Up
Malik is an African-American teenager growing up in Atlanta. Like many teenagers he is finding his role and identity within his community. He is also reestablishing his relationship with his father-who he now has to live with. We see the journey of Malik as he navigates through his community, peer pressure, gangs, school and his relationship with his father. One way Malik deals with all the pressures of growing up is writing lyrics. As his journey evolves so does Malik's lyrics. Ultimately revealing his inner journey of growing up as a teenager in Atlanta...
Atlanta History-Through the eyes of the Johnson Family
This story follows the generation of the Johnson family through 100 years of Atlanta history. In this production we see Atlanta history through the eyes of:
Grandfather Johnson who was born in the 20’s. Through his story we hear the effect that Jim Crow laws had on him and spurred him to become part of the civil rights movement.
We then see the journey of his son who was born in the 50’s. The son is greatly influenced by the changing times in the 70’s and recounts his time working on Maynard Jackson’s mayoral campaign to become the first African-American mayor of Atlanta.
We then see Atlanta through the eyes of his grandson who was born in the 80’s. He recounts the various neighborhoods and the demographics during that time and also the burgeoning music scene in Atlanta. Through the Johnson family we see 70 years of Atlanta history.
